I use 6061-T6 for everything however 6063-T8 may be similar and DX
Engineering sells this with a .120 wall for easier telescoping.

The ARRL antenna book also has element taper scheduled for various wind
speeds. I have been using their 120MPH element designs for years.

One of the best, if not the best, resources for building a full sized 40m 3
element Yagi is ON4UN's text "Low Band DXing"

Using machined reducers to step down from 2" OD center element sections to
1.5"
OD (which then tapers to 0.5" OD) is an excellent idea.

6061-T6 is the material of choice.

Have fun with your project! It will bring you great satisfaction when on the
air.
