I have been using a cheap 12V winch that I bought at HF 7 or 8 years ago.
The last few years I had very little time to use it which led to the only
problem I ever had. The HG54HD is left in the fully down position unless I
am actively on the air. And for the last few years that has been seldom.
Also I had not taken enough time for PM. So when I went to use it the other
day the cable snapped right at the winch. Operator error, not the winch's
fault. That is why it stays down when not in use.
