Easy.
We put up several for FD.
Use a tilt base, pinned down with 4’ rebar, with stops welded on and hooked at
the top, so you can pull with a jack or tractor boom after operation.
Assemble twr and support on a crutch (2X2x6 wood) or good step ladder.
Assemble beam and clamp on. Drive good stakes, like 4’ X 3/4” pipe, tilted
back, for guy stakes.
Pull with vehicle, preferably with a falling derrick, KEEPING SIDE GUYS TAUT.
Biggest prob is sideways tendency if there is misalignment.
KEEP A WRAP of guyline (1/2” rope) on the stakes at all times.
Work slowly and keep everything stable.
Raise to vertical and tie off.
If you use a long mast, you can work on the rotator from the ground. EMT is
great, but drive a dowel or pipe in where the boom clamp grabs.
Use EMT splice couplings, but drill through and pin with 1/4” bolts.
Let me know if ANYTHING IS NOT CLEAR. THERE’S NO REASON TO TAKE CHANCES.
See dfma.org for pictures.
