I did some Goggling on the subject of flushing before switching to synthetic
oil and, at least in the case of automotive engine oil, all of the references I
found said that it wasn't necessary. They say that synthetic oils are already
a mix of mineral and synthetic. Synthetics do tend to loosen debris so perhaps
it might be wise to run awhile with the first batch of synthetic then drain and
refill if your system has been in service long enough to be dirty.
I found this on Mobil's website;
While Mobil SHC 600 Series are generally compatible with mineral oil based
products, a mixture may detract from their performance. Consequently it is
recommended that before changing a system to one of Mobil SHC 600 Series
products, it should be thoroughly cleaned out and flushed to achieve the
maximum performance benefits.-Mike-

I don't know the capacity of your TX455 gearbox but it would not be over
one quart.
My HDX589 gearbox takes exactly one quart.
As you probably already know it is important to flush the old gear lube
out with
the synthetic lube you are going to use. The original lube and the
synthetic are
not compatible. I would order two quarts. That should work fine for
flush and fill.
