I like my F12 C-4XL a lot. Yeah, it's not as sexy as a SteppIr.
However, it does what I want, and it cost me a small
FRACTION of the least expensive SteppIr.
It gives me 2 full size elements on 20 & 15m, and 3e on 10m(2 driven elements)
for low VSWR on those bands. 2 linearloaded elements on 40m gives me about 100
KHz BW.With my rig's ATU, it plays on 12, 17, and 30m.
The C-4XL = C3 + EF240 on a single 30' boom.I decided on buying the C-4XL,
after I bought and read"HF Tribander Performance - Test Methods & Results"by
K7LXC & NØAX.
The C-4XL multisection boom quickly/easily partiallydisassembles, allowing me
to tilt my tower completelyhorizontal. I perform ALL tower & antenna work
withboth feet on the ground.

If it was me, I'd get a 3L SteppIR with the 30/40M trombone element.
Lots of band coverage and a monobander at all frequencies! Can't beat that
and it fits your smallest footprint parameter. I think they have one with 3
trombone elements that would result in significantly reduced element
lengths.
I don't remember the specifics but I think Force 12 has a couple of
models that fit your criteria. I'm not a big fan of their linear loading
scheme but they seem to work.
FYI for a rundown of a bunch of tribanders with measured on-the-air
performance, get a copy of our on-the-air tribander comparison report. It'll
give you some insight on which manufacturers offer decent antennas and
which ones don't. It's available from championradio.com.
