I have been using the MFJ998RT for 2 years now. Driving an 80M wire beam
with nice gain but only 75khz bandwidth. I have separate stubs for CW and
SSB but then tune for good SWR after that.

The MFJ998RT will not tune under full power. It tunes on exciter power and
then you hit the gas after that. It will do an auto shutdown if it tries to
tune while you are under full power. Its supposed to reset itself after the
power is removed so you can then shut off the amp and tune. However, it has
gotten confused before and needs a 12V reset.

The tuner is at the base of one of my towers. So I can switch off the 12V
supply to it to perform a cold start when necessary. Other than that quirk,
it works fine. But you have to accept that you need to tune under low power
first to use this tuner.

I am very happy with it for its purpose. I knew and accepted the conditions
before purchase.
