The critical test of that type of winch is not raising the tower to
vertical, but rather lowering the tower to horizontal.  That class of
winch is designed to pull a jeep out of a rut, not to slowly lower a jeep into a rut. It is unclear from the instructions how you control the rate at which that winch pays out the cable when you are going down. After you have tested the winch going down, can you explain the results to us?
