If you plan to DXpedition in Aruba be sure send in your application months
in advance. Getting permission to operate is a long and somewhat expensive
process. After you arrive and set up your station you will likely have to
have it inspected by the Directie Telecommunicatie Zaken before you can
transmit.

I purchased the CrankIR, which is a manual version of the BigIR. It is
shorter than the BigIR. SteppIR claims it has a gain .3db lower than the
BigIR. I got the 80 meter version, with carry bag (25"L X 8"W X 8"H). I
use the YouKits FG-01 Analyzer to get precise SWR readings for the selected
frequency.

This is a great alternative for portable use, either backpacking or
DXpedition. It may be on the air in Aruba next year.
