Been there, done that. For many years I have had a
90 foot vertical with 4 30 foot top loading wires
sloping down at 45 degrees that resonate it around
1830. Without doing anything special, it will also
resonate somewhere around 3660, but that will be
a hi-Z parallel resonance. It is straightforward to
feed this resonance using a simple LC ladder
network. The only thing difficult is that you
need to use high voltage rated components.
You will need a few dozen uH and around 500 pF.
The radials won't be needed on 80 meters, so
you can optimize them for 160 meters.

If you only have a 65 foot vertical, with top
loading, the same general principles will apply.

So...1/4 wavelength vertical on 80 meters, 65', and add top loading for 160 or
1/4 wavelength on 160 and try to figure out how to load a 1/2 wave vertical for
80m?

The property I am buying has a humongous, for me, 150'x210' back yard. The
40-6m tower will be up at the house. It's going to be a crank up 70' tall.
The planned vertical will be smack in the middle of the sea of green.
Rohn 25 sections around here are plentiful so that will be the vertical. I just
need ideas on which way to go and how to feed it. There will be 60 minimum
radials ranging from 75' to 110' long.
I am limited to one tower and one set of guy lines/anchors in the back 40. There was a
terrible price to be paid for the tower next to the house. 😉 a planter will be
built around its base.

Any and all input is welcome.
