I would recommend following Rohn's base and anchor specs. BTW, cement is the ingredient in concrete that holds the sand and stone together. Probably 3500 PSI concrete is fine, stronger concrete may be usable sooner if you're in a hurry. I did not use gravel under my forms. I designed the anchor forms to support the rod so it stayed in place while pouring and I used tapered pier pin tower bases. If you are setting a tower section in concrete I believe that gravel is required for leg drainage.

Hello - I am putting up two towers. A 55g and a 45g. I have built my cages,
and soon, I will dig my holes for the cages and cement.

My questions are:
Do you use gravel in the bottom of the holes?
What size gravel
Does it need to be tamped down
How do you support the anchor rod while the cement is setting up
Do you use a Vibrator to get the cement to release the air
and finally
Do you use 4000psi cement?

Thanks for your advice
