Not sure I'm following whether you're thinking about using the messenger wire
as a pilot line or as an RX antenna, but it's good to know that the messenger
wire is steel.
I use it to supply 12 Vdc to my feed point-mounted autocoupler (with coax
shield as ground return), which works fine. Not sure I'd use it as a TX
antenna, but maybe as an RX loop?  Who knows!

My book, "Stealth Amateur Radio," is now available from www.stealthamateur.com
and on the Amazon Kindle (soon)

I have some RG6 with messenger wire? Can I use this as an elevated feed for my
rx loop? Normally, due to mowing, leaf raking, etc. , I can’t put my receive
antennas up as the feed and control cables run across the lawn....
