I wouldn't use Delrin for that....had Delrin on a 4el quad some years ago
and it
wasn't UV proof...also, seemed to become brittle over time.  Delrin
insulators
would break under stress.

Have you checked www.McMaster.com ?  They have a large assortment of
rods....don't know about 1.5" though.
