“I had a one mile spool that looked and supposedly 
was new old stock. It is/was not flat parallel conductors, but actually 
twisted pair with a low twist rate. That can make separating the two 
wires interesting if you are doing a long piece.”
This was the old WD1 that was designed for tip and ring phone systems. 
“The other caution I would add is seal the ends! If water gets into that 
stuff it can be a disaster. The steel strands rust and then the rust 
damages the tinned copper strands. “
Military commo wire is not meant for permanent installation and Paul’s 
suggestion is a good idea. 
WD1A was designed for the digital telephone systems that were coming in to use 
after I left active duty.
