My 40-2cd was an early version and the capacity hats were not very secure. I got the new hats from Cushcraft (before MFJ and have had no problem. I just refurbished mine and I set it mid band and my SWR is 2 to 1 at 7001 and 1.8 at 7299. Mine is a real killer and I break pile ups easy.
