12-24 is not that unusual, though unless space was at a premium I would just 
use 1/4" fasteners in their place. My local hardware stores stock that size, 
though I'm not sure about SS. McMaster Carr has SS hex heads in 3/4" for 25@$10.

Those bolts do seem to be a bit hard to find.
According to Fastenal's website, they have them in stainless socket head cap 
screws for around $2.50 apiece. And they say there is no inflation.
I wonder if there is enough material present to drill them out and tap them for 
1/4", you can get this size bolt anywhere and cheaply.
