Bill,What are the expectations? Are we talking about POTA type activations? I have used a 20m dipole up 20 or 30 ft and done fine. I mobile a lot and if you can get Hustler resonators up in the air like above a shell of a pickup they work well. The 25ft extendable antenna piqued my interest too. Use 2 or 3 tape measure elevated radials and it should work ok. I was impressed with the R8. Not simple to reduce down to 6 ft and not available new. I feel it is better than the R7. Both need to be up about 10ft to work the best. 1/2 wave no radials. Getting any of the coils off the ground 6ft or more makes a big difference. Everything is going to be a tradeoff. We are going camping next month and I am trying to figure out what I want to do.
