I never tried AlumSlip, but have used Penetrox, Just took apart the 32 ft boom 
of my 4 El Steppir which has been up and together since 2010 so it would fit on 
a buyers trailer. I used standard penetrating oil which I sprayed on the joint 
and bolts 5-6 times over a 2 week period before needing to take it apart. It 
came apart with a twist and a pull w/o any problem.
