FT4, FT8 and Q65 are used routinely here in our area for tropo and the VHF+
contests on 1296 MHz. FT8 works well for me with my old LT-23S transverter.
Randy Wing, N0LD runs grids on microwaves in our area. Last February, Randy
successfully used Q65B-30 on 1296 MHz to work Wichita, KS area stations from
EM05 and EM14.
See WA50 in QST May, 2025 pp 88 & 89 for more discussion.

>I suspect there isn't much digital activity on 1296 or above in VHF+
contests. When I've gotten someone to run up the bands with me, I don't
recall anyone asking if it would be digital or SSB/CW. I know there are
WSJT modes used on 10 GHz to work EME, but I have not encountered any for
terrestrial communication.
