This evening is 222 activity night. I am all set. It was spitting
snow earlier and the snow shoes are all lubed up and polished. At least
the temps are reasonable and not below zero. I am hoping the diesel for
the genset holds out. The gauge shows less than 1/4 whatever that
means. The snow pack is so thick and has been in position so long that
there is no way the truck will even begin to traverse the field even a
little bit. It just slides sideways. Last week I had bad snow static. I
am hoping this week is better.
The routine is to turn on ur 222 rig and make noise around the 222.100
calling frequency and see who you can work. I am hoping to be there
before 00:00 UT looking for stations to work. Don't forget the ON4KST
Chat page (144/432 MHz Region 2) It is a good way to let folks know that
you are there. Meteors are sparse this time of year and the Moon will
have already set in the afternoon. I looked at the hepburn map and there
is some minor enhancement possible in a few spots. You might get lucky
on an East west path. The only way to know for sure is to be there and
try it out. CU there!
