Mon Dec 9 10:09:19 EST 1996
885 Qs x 76 sections (missed VY1/VE8 and MT) and 15 countries
885 x 91 = 167,349 - abt 19 hours
TS930/600W -> sloping inverted L (62'up/sloping to tree)
QTH: near Nashville, TN
Great condx Friday nite. GM3POI and OT6T and DL1IAO were beacons from sunset
until ???. Couldn't stay awake past abt 2AM so I napped for abt 90 mins, played
some more, slept some more and the got up for sunrise getting my only JA right
at sunrise. Quit at 7AM Saturday morning with abt 690 Qs. Got on for abt 2
hours Saturday afternoon (4-6PM local) but had to attend a few holiday social
engagements. Hosts don't understand why I turn down beer (something I rarely
do) but THIS IS A CONTEST! I reluctantly (?) accept one which turns out to be
a 16 oz. variety, Oh well! Got back on abt midnite for abt 2 more hours, slept
and again got on for abt an hour before church. I had 813 Qs/81 mults last
year with similar distractions last year so I was happy this year as I didn't
expect to do much better. Didn't hear a lot of Caribbean, no SA. Heard KS7T
(MT) Friday nite calling a station in DX window so hoped to catch him later.
Didn't hear Jay/VY1JA but may have just been due to me zigging while he was
zagging. Delaware was last domestic mult worked (tnx NY3C).
DX mults worked: 6Y, C6, XE, DL, G, GM, GW, OK, OM, ON, S5, SP, UA2, EA8 and
JA. This is becoming one of my favorite contests (I think I may have said the
same thing before abt several other contests!). Thanks for the Qs!!
73, Mark K0EJ
