Operators: K5GA, W5ASP, K5ZD

Hours of operation: 43.7 (4.3 hours off to sleep!)

I will let K5GA and W5ASP write up their impressions of the weekend
since they did almost all of the operating. Here are a few things I
noticed:

- Easter hurts activity a lot. Solar disturbances hurt activity a
lot. Together, the combination made for some slow hours!

- Sunrise here is 1030Z. From 1030Z to 1200Z on Day 1 we made about
10 QSOs. Only slightly better on Day 2. That's beyond bad...normally
the band opens with the sun.

- Very noisy first night from storms in W8/W9. Second night we had a
thunderstorm pass very close (thunderstorms in New England in March
are somewhat rare). Rain static was almost worse than the static
crashes. Had to use the Beverage to hear on all bands.

- We logged everything that called. We did not search for USA QSOs.
If same country counted 1 point, score would have been 5.58M. About
5% increase (although you can be sure we would have worked more W's if
  they counted for something).

- Only worked 3 JA's all weekend! All those Asians on 20m are UA9's and 4X4's.

- Thrilled to work JY9QJ on 75m with a big signal. Surprised to see
he only worked 98 QSOs on the band...

- Very difficult to hold a frequency on 20m and it wasn't because of
high USA activity/competition. The conditions were down a bit and
there must have been short skip in EU because it was almost impossible
to defend a frequency from loud Europeans. We were forced to change
frequencies quite often -- which always made it a challenge to find a
  new spot!

- Wish I could have provided better conditions for my visitors from
Texas -- but I think they got the idea of what being a W1 is like!
They left mumbling something about only operating from the Carribbean
  from now on...

73 - Randy, K5ZD
