Had fun running this one via remote control.
500q's x 149 mults = 74500 Single Op, Texas, 100watts
Equipment/Antennas:
Kachina 505DSP (100 watts)
Kachina 505RC - Remote control
Kachina 505AR - Rotor/Antenna switch control
C4XL - 10,15,20,40 at 75'
C3 - 10,15,20 at 45'
Above phased with WX0B stack match
Sloper - 75
Sure was nice using the antennas on my office roof from the comfort of
home. I'm able to rotate the upper antenna and choose antennas via
remote control, its just like being there. Only problem is transmitted
audio. I had a few reports of " it sounds like you have rf distorting
the signal". This is actually caused by the phone lines and their lack
of bandwidth. I had some ISDN phone lines installed last week which I'm
hoping will clear this up. I'll be working on that project during the
next week or two.
I used Writelog for the first time. Getting tired of getting the dos
programs to work in windows. Writelog solved this problem. I didn't
even come close to using all the features. For example, I just
downloaded it Friday night and did not get a chance to wire up the sound
board to handle the voice keying. I also understand it handles rtty
real well.
Gotta tell ya I'm really impressed with the Kachina. As soon as a
contest program starts communicating with the Kachina i.e. band tracking
etc (hopefully Writelog) my 1000mp will take a back seat for a while.
p.s. no interest in either of the above companies, just a happy user.
