Beams are all independently steerable, and rarely used as a "stack".
Combining the top 2 did make some gain into Europe, but usually
combinations were used to cover several areas at once. It was handy when
tuning for mults to select "all" and cover PAc/JA/Eu/CAm in one pass.

Lots of solar disturbances up here, brief openings to Europe with good
rate, but many slow hours too. Took a little time off the first night to
answer some of the strong Eu signals on 80, sounded like that band was
pretty good.

A couple of hours of JA at the start but the band was pretty well dead by
0400 with JT1KAA and 9M6AAC the last in the log. There was a spotlight
opening to Italy around 0700, heard a few I stations chatting or working
DX, but not in the contest then. Main opening started around 1000 with
GW4BLE being the first in the log.
Similar the second 24 hours with the last few hours being painfully slow.
Nothing new to work and only hope of a q was catching a new station CQing
on the band. Couldn't get over the 1000 Q mark on 15, worked 1 station in
the last 30 minutes - and that was by tuning, not by CQ. At least it was a
mult -CX! Even CQing well below 21200 still produced quite a few US
stations calling in, oblivious of the band edge and also the nature of the
contest.

For those of you in the British Commonwealth countries... look for VE6JY
operated by VE6BF in the BERU contest next weekend.
