Some of the regulars were out of town (J3 and 4U1) or unenthusiastic about SSB,
so there was a lot more operating time available than usual for several people
this time. Looks like they did just fine and will make many points in the
future for YCCC. We managed to cover five operating positions some of the
time, and at last one position through the early morning hours. WB1DAR and
KA1TRF stopped by for a while to listen and learn. We may turn them into
serious contesters eventually!
Hard to believe we worked 62 Italians but only 3 Germans on 10m. Sunday
morning was torture on all bands.
Snow static was over S-9 for a while on Saturday afternoon on 20-15-10.
Biggest crisis was having the pizza at the other end of the driveway and the
car (my wife driving) unable to get through the snow drifts to get to us. It
was worth abandoning 15m to help her get home.
Interesting to get SWL reports and QSL requests via e-mail the day after the
contest, plus a QRM report from a 75m W6 ragchewer group we inadvertantly
terrorized around 06Z or so Sunday.
Thanks to all of our new and old DX friends for many QSOs!
