First Business trip to Atlanta provided me with the opportunity for another
contest
operating experience on-the-road ! Thanks to Bill, W4AN for hosting me !
This is my first SO/AB without Packet. Used NA software's SO2R feature for
first time too.
W4AN is the 60th different callsign I've operated with in a contest since
1977.
We arrived at the station 3 hours before the contest.
Found one of the 20M rotors not indicating direction.
Thanks for trying to fix it, Bill !
Found more damage later:
The right station would only operate on 160M,40M and 20M.
Learn by doing: the station, the Georgia propagation and
NA's SO2R features throughout the entire contest.
Bill called the shack Saturday just after 1000Z to ask if i was
hearing or seeing any lightning. He was glad that I was already QRT !
Best hours: 40M - 52 / 15M - 124 / 10M - 116
Not enough CQing...... ( But, I always say that. )
I made a lot of bad choices after 1700 Zulu SAT.
Sunday felt like a Sweepstakes SUNDAY.
I wonder if I ever said: W1AN / 59 Massachusetts !
Bill Fisher, W4AN has designed and assembled a state-of-the-art automated
Single-Op Two Radio station using the latest in High performance yagi
designs
and terrain analysis tools. I look forward to returning someday.
