Guys,
Hope the attachments came through ok. I want to make sure I have the
callsign correct, KB0PPA, is that it for sure for Mark? Don't want it
wrong when I send to ARRL.
Joe, I cant help you on the All Mode other than to say I run a
transverter here for 2m which cost me about $300.00 in kit form, 35
watts output which I drive a brick with, for 150 watts out. Works fine
with the 940.
On the contest, yes I am very interested in how we can improve. Man,
N0NI put us away bad especially in multipliers and total Q's.. Maybe we
need more experience.. My thought is that since we are multi-op we
didnt have packet(or internet) to spot mults with, which maybe (or maybe
not) hurt us some..Have used internet spots I thought overall we did a
fine job operating, split and all, and am not sure how we could have
done much better, maybe Ed has some ideas? We just didnt seem to be able
to have the really big runs, but from the breakdown sheet 15m was BY FAR
the best band in Q's per hour.. just the way it worked out. It seemed
to me that we had not very good conditions on Sunday and fair conditions
Fri. and Sat.. Anyhow, I think its a matter of doing the contest more
together.. DEFINATELY the networked computers were worth a BUNCH of
mults and contacts, that was really worth the effort putting that
together.
Joe, I didnt realize until I looked at the breakdown sheet how MUCH of a
GRIND the nite hours were, wow, thats tough. Next time I think I should
take a nite shift and you take one to split them up, what do you think?
Well, next contests are WPX SSB the end of this month and WPX CW end of
May, and IARU in July, which would be a good one to do .. so are WPX,
they are LOTS of fun, now with stateside counting 1 point instead of 0
points as in previous years.
Anyhow, any comments on a better ARRL DX operation? Take care, God
Bless!
