My first fairly serious attempt at RTTY. I may have tried a shorter event
some years back, and
have tried to set up and work RTTY with multi mode TNC's from time to time
over the years.

I read K3ZO's CQ-CONTEST posting on preparation etc during the contest, and
found myself
in violation of almost ALL of the things he mentioned.

I do tend to set GOALs for most contests in which I participate. This one
was to not push W2UP
too hard, learn how to do 2 radio RTTY (practice for 1 computer 2 radio
SSB/CW as well),
and not burn up too much of the family good will this weekend.

I ran 800 Watts max, to give the equipment a break, but still check
everything out.

Other than that, I worked a few spots but was not linked into packet with
the contest software. I
just left the node on, and felt guilty for not working the SAC SSB guys I
saw spotted. I didn't
do a lot of thinking about optimizing multipliers, or finding the best spots
to get the best rates etc.
The final results should show less than 1/3 of the score of W2UP with
probably slightly less time in
the chair, and a lot less application of skill and knowledge.
