Title of this contest: The Iceman Cometh
Was hoping to put in a competitive effort, but... The Wx-man called for 1-2
inches of snow Friday AM, followed by rain in the afternoon with rising temps
up to 50 F.
Turned out we had 5 inches of snow, then freezing rain late Friday into
Saturday. The temp never rose above 33 F, as they predicted. I kept checking
the temps on Yahoo (one of the nice things about running Writelog, you can
connect to internet too). Wound up with about 1/4 inch of ice on everything.
The 80/160 wires barely worked, and had to keep power way down. Watched my
packet link to K3WW node start full scale, and fade away to nothing over
several hours. Tried a few other nodes, but no luck, similar to W2GD's story.
Was hoping it would melt by Saturday night, but no such luck, so decided to
sleep Sat. night.
Oh well, maybe next year...
