Many thanks to Rod Stafford, W6ROD, for letting us use his callsign and
designation for the contest. Also, thanks to Rusty Epps, W6OAT, who
helped facilitate the arrangement.

K6AW joined me on the assault to Mt. Domitrix and the station of Lew
Sayre, W7EW. We put together a 3 man operation with one station
dedicated to doing the beeps (CW) and another for SSB. This arrangement
served our goal of giving the R2 multiplier to as many of the deserving as
possible and of course to have some fun.

W7EW's station consists of stacks for 20/15/10 on a rotating tower, a
log periodic for 20-10, a 3 el 40 and a 3 el 80, along with wires on
160. Thanks to some bandpass filters, the interference between
bands was pretty minimal. We did manage a few QSOs on the same
band (different modes) at the same time, but in general we were
on different bands.

We had DVP messages recorded with all three of our voices. Lew
would take great delight in closing his eyes and playing DVP
roulette with the keys. One station asked which one of the
three operators he would get to work.

As you can see from the numbers, we split our QSOs between CW and
SSB pretty well (1546/1407). The first half of the contest was
somewhat painful as conditions were very poor for us to Europe
(where most of the QSOs are for this contest). There wasn't enough
activity from the other parts of the world to sustain good rates
and we even had to do some S&P just to make QSOs.

However, the second half of the contest was much like the conditions
enjoyed last year and the rates were much better. We only worked
Europe on 15 and 20 meters. 10 meters sounded a lot like six meters
does with very sporadic openings around the country. The low bands
didn't get much attention because of the noise and good conditions
on 20 and 15.

We worked 28 of the WRTC teams. They mostly had to find us since
we were in run mode most of the time.

Thanks for all the QSOs.
