Oh dear. Someone has stolen that nice 10m band and replaced it with a rubbish
one instead. Was there a JA opening in the morning ? Not that I could find. Did
the band open to North America about lunchtime, leaving me able to run 3 pt USA
stations for a few hours in the afternoon ? No way. The QSB was appalling -
more like 2m than 10m. Mainly short skip to EU, DX QSOs quite rare. Apart from
some outstanding DXpedition signals most signals were S4 or below from here. I
actually did check my antennas and feeders to make sure nothing was amiss. Only
169 3 pt QSOs. What was happening in OK ? I worked 70 Czech stations (10% of
all QSOs) which was unusual but very fortunate to get my numbers up. A pity
there weren't more OK multipliers though !

Overall a bit disappointing. Trust me not to keep an eye on the band before the
contest, but after 20m LP in 98, 15m LP in 99, and no overnight pass I didn't
have much choice. An all band effort next year I hope.

73, Lee G0MTN
