Comments:
Before the contest I made a goal which I pasted on my monitor: 2000
QSO's, 37 Zones, 140 Countries and 1 Million points. I frankly wondered
whether I would even come close given the dire propagation forecasts Friday
afternoon! I'm sure my score will be reduced to under 1 Million (~1% error
rate = 4% score reduction) but it sure felt good to hit that mark and break the
existing record.
Mr.Murphy made his usual visits here too:
40 MPH wind-driven rain (and precipitation static!) for Saturday AM EU run
LK-800 Amplifier developed an arc at 1.5 KW...fortunately worked OK at 1.2 KW
Sticking external relay on WX0B (I thought that was the problem when the flare
hit at 1645 Sunday!)
Equipment:
FT-1000MP in K3ZO mode (2 kHz filters shifted using the DSP between my ears)
Amp Supply LK-800 at 1.2 KW (had an old backup Alpha 76PA just in case)
3 KLM 610's at 35/70/105 (YO7 optimized for +1 dB gain, +8 dB F/B, better SWR)
Stackmatch (worked perfectly but the optional external relay was sticking)
(pictures at http://www.arraysolutions.com/Users/w4zv.htm )
486DX33/CT 9.53 (including 2 minute initial boot-up delay on CW sending!)

Thanks to God for this wonderful universe He created and which we all
enjoyed this weekend. Thanks to all for the QSO's and especially to my wife
Charlanne for her understanding in letting me do my thing this weekend
(fortunately our Wedding Anniversary falls on the Monday after Thanksgiving
this year...now we're off to the mountains to celebrate for a few days!)
73, Bill W4ZV
