Antenna:  

10/15/20/40m  Cushcraft D-3 dipole suspended from apex of vaulted attic
ceiling.  Height about 30'.


Well first the good news, despite starting 2h and 15m into the test, I
did quite well on the high bands.  Wonder how 10m would have turned out
if I had started "on time"?

The bad news....  the end loaded 40m dipole doesn't work.  I pretty much
knew that Friday night, but didn't have any tools to do any debug.  Have
no idea where the antenna analyzer is, no doubt it's hidden in some box
in some dark corner of a storage locker.  I'll borrow an analyzer this
week and figure it out, might need some type of RF current probe as
well.  My main guess is that since the mismatch is substantial (at the
moment), the balun didn't like things and it's dissipating some of the
power.  On that thesis, I was going to use my MFJ antenna tuner and 450
ohm open wire line...   but...  you guessed it!!!  the open wire line is
in storage as well.  This living in a condo for our house remodel is not
a lot of fun.  I guess the good news is that we're actually going to
start tomorrow, the bad news is we were supposed to start 2 months ago!

The main highlight was a 96 q first hour, which was really 49 minutes,
the major disappointment was not having a 40m antenna after having put
substantial effort into having one ready.  Of course, it still wasn't
ready in enough time for debug, oh well, I'll have it working for
Sprint!

To summarize:  The high bands were a blast.  I had expected contesting
to be much tougher when I moved from our QTH on a hill to our condo in
the "flatlands" but that really hasn't turned out to be the case (for
10/15/20).  Now the low bands are another story, when the attic is only
26' long, it starts getting cramped real easily!
