Thanks to Ken, VA3SK for setting out the station ahead of time, and to Bob,
VA3RTW for his hospitality.

First time operating SOABHP, had a lot of fun and noted many areas for operator
improvement!! Conditions seemed ok, but had problems getting any good runs
going. 10m opening to EU on Sunday had loud signals, but again, could not get
anything running - everything heard came back to a call (must be too used to
S&P'ing from the home QTH Hi!!).

Unfortunately the 40m beam was loose at the rotor I could not keep the beam on
a heading other than decided by the wind! Found that when I could get it on Eu,
propogation was somewhat strange in that the Explorer sometimes had a better
signal (rotatable dipole) and sometimes the beam had a better signal.

Was fun running JA and Eu on 20m on Sunday morning, had the beams switchable so
with one on EU and one on JA was changing between them - lost count of the
number of times I called on one beam and was answered by signal from opposite
direction!!

Finally left for the 4 hour drive home at 4:00pm Sunday as decided that should
really go and hug my wife for letting me operate on our 29th wedding
anniversary (she still doesnt understand my obsession with contesting!).

Had a blast and glad to get a taste of the big league.

73 de Tony, VE3RZ
