Comments:
This was my first foray into the world of the NA sprint. Thanks to Tree N6TR
for the invitation to participate with Team Elecraft. The CW was easy and the
contest format was easy to pick up after a few minutes of operating. It wasnt
so easy to drop to QRP from the usual low power entry and lose the ability to
get more consistent answers to the CQ/QRZ!! That took some getting used to. I
used my K1 #1012 on 40 and 20 running 5 watts and was wicked pleased with it's
performance! Antennae included a TH6DXX on 20, and a 40 meter half square up
about 55 feet. It was interesting to note how the activity on the band changed
as operators moved down in frequency. I would probably have made more Qs if I
could have moved to 80 with the rest. I also would have done better if I
remembered the contest started at 7pm vs. 8pm. My confusion lost me 20 minutes
in the beginning! Anyway, it was a good time. Im interested to know how I
measured up to other QRP stations?
Best 73/72,
AL W1SA
