Remarks (Biggest thrill in contest, funniest story, comments, etc.):
Club Competition:

The start was made from the 40 meter band.
Europe was dominating but slowly the path to the states was opening. Soon
big
signals started coming from the states, but not as good as they were last
year.
On the 80 meter band i was not expecting a lot because i had for antenna a
longwire
of 30 meters length with an antenna external tuner at 15 meters, My space
was extremely
limited for a good installation.
At dawn, 20 meter band started to open towards the states at first and later
to Europe.
All the weekend the weather was excellent like summer with a temperature of
22 degrees Celcius.
Propagation was relatively good but there was a lot of QSB, making hard to
listen for
the week stations! This way i had to use AGN AGN? a lot of times! On the 15
meter band things were the same, with the difference of many stations from
Europe. On the 10 meter band things
were excellent with a lot of JA stations!
Europe was coming with 20dB plus some times and USA opened a bit later than
in other days.
Power was plenty for the band, judging from the strong signals and the
splaters 1-2MHZ so
it was tough for a LP station to hold on to his battle station HI!
Second day was fine and it shown from the 40 meter band, since the opening
to the states
was remarkable. But the 706MKIIG that has been used since that moment
sudenly stopped transmiting! By the time the second HF rig was operative, an
IC-738, a lot of valuable time was lost and multipliers as well!
The morning on the 20 meter band was not the best for the propagation on the
15 meter band, same. During noon, tha path to europe was very good, but the
best band was the 10 meter one! JA stations were coming with 10dB over! For
the USA good opening to west coast was there from 15:30z.
On the 40 meter band, during the night, signals from Europe were 30dB over!
IC-738 was great at reception but unfortunately the required filters were
not available to filter the local signals from Europe.
Was suprised me is that from a QRM of 20dB over from S5, sudenly K4GMH
passed
from top of it and W1ZT too at 22:21z! Very good job guys HI!
There were no cluster as well. But in a few lines, there was a lot of fun!
Congratulations to J41YM (OLDA) for the great score!
CU ALL ON WPX SSB
