Comments:
Started the contest with only one radio, with one on its way back to me after
being repaired. Thoughts of just getting on for a few hours seemed remote
since I’ve torn all the cables out while doing some drywall remodeling in the
basement for a playroom for the kids/ guest op sleeping quarters. It expanded
into a much larger project than I first planned and now might include moving
the furnace :-(
Started thinking I’d only play for a few hours, but got caught up in the great
conditions. I kept debating if it was worth it to wire everything back up or
not, but just kept plugging along with the 10M stack hardwired with all three
antennas active, but two of them fixed SE. On 15M the top antenna was the only
one used and still had a rotator. On 20M all the rotators were disconnected
with all the antennas at least fixed on Europe!
Highlights of the contest included having a 90 hour on 80M, and the first night
on 20M with 07-09Z with rates of 155, 163, and 161. It was the first time I
can remember wishing the pileup was smaller so it would be easier to pick calls
out! Since I told my wife that I would just be putting in a few hours, I
figured when the op time hit 24 hours it was time to get back to taping and
mudding drywall…

Scott
