Comments:

Major kudos to W2SC for saving the 8P9Z station from being
disassembled.

When Will & I operated ARRL DX SSB from here last year, we thought
we would be the last to operate from one of the longest lasting
stations in the Caribbean; however, Tom stepped in and saved
the day. In addition, he (and some friends) did some major
repairs to the station last August, most importantly getting
the 3 el. 40M beam working again.

Definitely seems that activity was down. Lots of unanswered CQs.
No chance to break ZF2KE's record from 1990. But the story was
Mults.

As far as we can tell a new M/S total Mult record and one
of the highest totals ever regardless of class (a couple of M/M
have had a few more).

Here's what we missed (remember only 63 mults/band
possible from DX land).

Missed VE8 & VO2 on all bands. I told Will that I don't
ever remember working a VO2 from the Carib in our 7 trips
together. Work them outside the test, but they just seem
to avoid those 2 weekends.

Anyway, on 40-10 that is all we missed. BIG THANKS to VY1JA
and VY0AAA. We worked both of them on 40-10, and worked Jay
on 80. Wow!

On 80 also missed SD & VY0.

On 160 missed SD & VY0 + DC, ID, NE (K0HA where are u?), ND (WB0O?),
VE9, VO1, VE2 (Serge?), VE4, VE5, VE6, & VY1 (too much of a stretch
for Jay).

Low bands were best we can remember. Usually you are lucky if you get
one good night. We had 2 execellent nights. Snake Beverage (1500+
feet wire on the ground along the sugar cane field road) fed with
matching transformer worked great on 160-40.

Apologies ahead of time, but we worked N0AX (LP) on all 6. Anyone on
the East Coast knows that Ward is not known for his signal strength
on the low bands, and we are as far from the East Coast as the East
Coast is from Ward. The low bands were good!

But back to the high bands, they were too good for us.

Jeff Foxworthy might say:
Your contest trip to the Caribbean might not record setting if ...
the USA is running Europe on 15M at 3AM USA time.

Sounds like you guys had fun up there. We had fun down here too.
To the rest of the World see you in SSB from K4JA.

73, Jim 8P9JA (K4MA) along with Will 8P9JB (AA4NC/W4MR)

P.S. Warning to Caribbean contesters: Ting is no longer available
on Barbados. Importation required.
