Equip: FT-1000MP, TL-922 (New Titan II is down for the second time) inv L, low
dipole, NE/SW, E/W beverage, and a snake.
I never operated below 1843. Conditions were really good and I never heard the
band so crowded. Without a legal limit amp, I spent 90% of my time above 1900.
I did not work as much DX as I normally have in the past, but I did have DX
call me when I was above 1900 and one station even called me on 1.979. I guess
I'm getting old because this was two contests in a row that I have not put in a
full effort. Funniest incident: I was running on a freq for over two hours and
not having any problems when someone put a wierd signal on my freq. I guess it
was to get my attention, because then I heard this fairly weak voice say "you
are too close to me, you are too close to me". Duh! Next contest, I want a QRM
free clear frequency too. Think I will put that on my Christmas list. Or
while thinking about it, I guess that is why I bought sharp filters. See you
all next week. Don't forget to give me a clear frequency!
73, Tom K2UOP in WV
