Comments:

Although I planned to operate the full contest, I changed my mind while on
Djerba ... I could not get my 3ele 3 band beam out of customs so I only had a
FD4 and a DX-77 vertical. When I went to the station 30min b4 the contest I
found out that there was again no electricity (a digger damaged the cable
again, we fixed it 5 times the days b4 the contest and at night I could not
find the broken place) ...
So I took it easy, got some good sleep and returned in the morning. Easily
found the broken cable, repaired it and started to operate.
3V8SM seems to be a tough call ... Many stations obviously started to log SM
(... --) V8SM only to find out that this makes no much sense and came back with
8SM? ...
My first contest as a QRP entry ... The score is quite ok for 12.5 hours of
operation. I had no problems with the 5W out of my Elecraft K2 to get
recognised, however starting a 'pile-up' was difficult.
During the contest I trained the operators at 3V8SM (a Scout station) so again
lost some time.
I left my beam at 3V8SM so they probably have a better signal soon. I will post
more information about this and other trips at http://www.dl6lau.de (Still VERY
under construction).
B4 the contest we did some training with the local operators regarding contest
so expect to be called from 3V8SM in the coming ARRL DX SSB contest and please:
Be patient with them! <br>
Thanks for working me!
