Planned part time effort as I find myself deep into CubScouts with
my son (Friday night pack meetin), which has led to helping out his den
leader with his local political campaign fund raiser on Saturday
morning...Arrghh.

At any rate a super contest with unbelievable conditions. Station played
OK, except for packet which was unreliable all weekend. Managed a couple
of small runs for about 45min each which is about par for my station.
I should probably attempt more runs, but I generally look for a wide swath
of clear freq before I start, of which they were few and far between this
weekend. Had one of my runs stolen by a fellow YCCC'er and I was aggravated
enough to drop him a packet message, but I got over it. Rate was pretty low
(50) anyways. Really got to make it a point to find the station that was about
a KHz above me on 10M Sunday morning and rip out his mike tone. Felt like
I was being pinged by sonar for a good half hour plus everytime he keyed up
his mike...

My 80M 1/4 wave vertical was really playing, kicking butt over my low trap
dipole both Friday and Saturday evenings until the rain started and then they
swapped roles, the dipole played best and the vertical was not effective. Must
be a lesson in there somewhere.

My eternal thanks to Fred H.(K1VR) for clueing me in on the split command
for CT. This actually made 40M enjoyable and not one "transmit-on-wrong-VFO"
all weekend.

I worked over 30 stations on 5 bands and 3 stations on 6 bands even though I
have no business being on 160M with the trap dipole. I QSY'ed immediately for
stations that asked. That was fun.

A lot of what made this enjoyable was my attitude, I knew going into it I
could not do a full time effort, so whatever I did over my goal of 500Q's was
purely for the fun of it. This might be a new PR for me in this contest.

Let's see, WPX next?
