Comments:

This operation courtesy of American Airlines. If it weren't for their mileage
incentive programs, Steve K6AW would not have gotten in touch about doing a
last-minute Multi-op here.

Lots of last-minute antenna work here seems to have paid off.

We did not have packet spots networked in, but did peek a bit at DX Summit over
on the laptop -- more on Sunday when it was slower than on Saturday. Total
multiplier gain was minimal from packet and we had considered leaving it off
completely. Interesting to hear a few supposed USA single-ops showing up on
spot frequencies. Since their scores are not posted yet, maybe they'll get
honest and report as M/S. Right.

We worked only FL in the first 20 minutes and feared the worst, but the one
thing that is constant about 10-Meter propagation is change.

During the short European run Saturday, we stayed on CW almost the whole time
and as a result, we missed many normally easy EU mults on SSB. Did work more
exotic mults on Sunday, but most of the European opening was to extreme western
Eu. Never worked a JA, although there was one audible JA7 on SSB. Thanks to
VQ9LA for passing *us* to CW and coming back to SSB to chat about it.

Enjoyed gabbing both directly and using Alt/G with K6AW. Lots of laughs! Sure
made for a different ARRL 10 experience for me, having done CW-only for a few
years now. Thanks to Steve for helping with the computers and antenna work.

Happy Holidays!

73, Dan, K1TO
