Comments:

Nice to have a January contest without snow/ice on the antennas! The cold wx
made for below avg winter condx until Sunday afternoon when things appeared to
return to normal .And, it got a little warmer so the line noise dropped a bit.
For awhile there it was s5 - s7 on 6 and 2 in most directions. There were times
when I tuned the bands and they seemed pretty quite. However, the q's kept
coming. Since it was a little slower than usual Satruday, I started asking
stations if they had other bands earlier than usual. Gooddecision , as I worked
quite a few station I likely wouldn't have worked otherwise. Sunday am there
were periods of openings on 6 that seemed like meteors in that stations appeared
out of nowhere. However, these bursts seemed to last for a few minutes at a
time. Then late Sunday afternoon found WB9Z and KD5HDT both well over s9 on 6.
The strange part was that for a few minutes they were the only stations coming
in on Es. A few minutes later it opened up nicely to the EN's with a few EM
grids coming through for over an hour. Since it was the middle of the football
game, kept the power turned back but seemed to be able to work just about
everyone I called and had some nice runs during the opening.

As always a special thanksto all the rovers. They really make a big difference.
Special thanks to K1DS/R and N1XKT/R for their efforts on the microwaves and to
K1DY/R for about 10 new grids in the contest. Sure must have been cold up in
Maine running around giving out q's.

Biggest dissappointment was the 2.3 and up results. I did a lot of work since
the Sept contest to really beef up the station on those bands.Unfortunatley they
didn't seem to help and may have been a step backwards. Guess it means there's
something to look forward to when I get things squared away!

Cu in June when we can hope for better wx and condx. And, tnx for all the q's.
