Comments:

Original plans for a M/S faded, and then later plans for a M/S failed too
(although for a *good* reason), so it was me and KM3T, who did respective SB
efforts. I had promised my QSL manager to do something "competitive" - and a two
man M/S didn't sound very competitive. Yes, I prefer my contesting to be
competitive, although I can have fun just getting on and screwing around as well
as many can attest to.

Since I'm somewhat mentally ill, I chose 80m (hey, I LIKE 80m phone!!! - despite
greatly prefering CW). With my first two hours having rates of 13 and 11, with
SO2R, I didn't have high hopes, but my inherint genetic-based stubborness could
not be subdued. Also, having UBNed my way to a win in SB80 last year, I wanted
to give it another try. And yes I was trying hard - very very hard. Mostly, this
was a dogfight. Couple of high points - the 2nd night EU opening got very good
near the end and I worked them well past G sunrise - almost like 40m. Also
Sunday morning was a decent opening and managed to get zones 32,30, and a couple
of JAs too. Wow, I worked 3 pacific stations in 48 hours and I'm happy about
it!

I amazingly beat last years score despite many hours with rates in the 10's and
well below.

546 QSOs, 24 zones, 92 countries for 173,768

PS: I should mention, for those who don't know me well or at all, I had an
absolute blast!!
