I reinstalled my remote controlled station using a Kachina 505dsp rig and a
Kachina KC505DC 500 watt solid state amp. F12 C3 at 75' with slopers for 40m
and 80m. The rotor is a tailtwister with the Idiom Press rs-232 board
installed. I used this contest to shake the station down and work out some
expected problems.

The major problem was rfi getting into the phone modem and causing disconnects.
This happened on 40m and 80m and was kind of expected. I reoriented the
antennas and most of the problems went away. I also added an in line phone
filter on the modem line with some additional toroids.

I think the addition of a F12 rotatable dipole on 40m will solve the problems on
that band. I had a 40m loop but the bottom wire was only 20 feet from the
station and modem.

Not too sure what I'll do on 80m. The sloper sure plays well in domestic stuff.
I may have to install a vertical on 80/75 further down the top of the building
and get the rf field away from the rig.

Its good to be back on the air. I took a break for a while and tried a station
at home with a small vertical with little success. Postage stamp lots with
antenna restrictions don't cut it.
