Was glad when this ended.
Computer froze up at 02:57 and it took me 8 minutes to decide it wasn't coming
back to life, so I spent the last hour on the 2nd radio with a working
computer.
This kept me on 80 longer than I wanted and longer than the "good ol' boys"
wanted too. Had one tell us he had been on that freq since 6:00 - and since it
was 10:30 I figured he had it long enough. But trying to move around those guys
is painful- you don't know they are there until you make a call or a Q - then
you are one of those #*?<#@*!! corn-testers. They are not really using the freq
- just waiting for a corn-tester to come by so they can holler obsenities.
Ugh.
Anyway- the whole sprint was like pulling teeth. Mults were pretty good but I
couldn't cry hard enough to beg a response to a CQ. I seemed to do fine in the
pile-ups but then would call into thin air after the Q. Only mult heard but not
worked was AL. Never heard CT, RI, SC, AK, NE, ND, VE4. Did work NP4 and a
couple of Europeans. The only Q I made in the last 7 minutes was AR for a
mult.
I'll do better in SS. Tnx for the Q's.
