Comments:

We had several things working against us this year, but we managed to do OK.

First was the poor location we had. Our usual rental villa has been removed
from the market and others known to be suitable were rented early. We wound up
in Villa Kinnoull. There is a hill in the direction of the US about 1/2 mile
away that was about 200 feet higher than us that we had to beam through.
(Toward Europe it was even worse - the hill was less than 100 feet away. It was
a miracle that we worked anyone to the northeast).

Our amplifier program was a disaster. We planned to borrow amps from a couple of
the local hams and we brought new 572Bs to refit them. New tubes won't fix TR
relays and blown transformers. We wound up with one Clipperton L that would put
out about 300 watts on 40 meters and used it on occasion until it would heat up
and go off line.

The worst problem was with one of our "operators" who spent about half the
contest period out chasing local fauna. He left about 10PM each night and
didn't return until 4AM or so.

Equipment:
160M - IC706, Inverted L
80M - IC706, vertical
40/20M - JST245, vertical/A3S tribander @ 15'
20M/10M - FT920, A3S tribander @ 15'/3 ele mono @ 35'
15M - IC706, 3 ele mono @ 20'

We had four stations and switched 20 meters (after 40 died in the morning)
because of interference probs on 10M.

Watch for some photos on the ARRL Soapbox site.

Thanks to all for the QSOs.
