Comments:
My first Caribbean field day type contest DXpedition since 2000. This was a
family vacation mixed with some radio. Rented a small villa on the beach in
Rincon. You can see Desecheo Island about 12 miles away from the front porch.
Put up 2 low dipoles at 20 ft, one for 80/40, the other for 20/15/10. Rig
was an
IC-706. Conditions were outstanding for this part of the sunspot cycle,
although
I was somewhat deaf on the lower bands due to the high noise urban environment.
Ran almost the entire contest, with only about an hour of S and P. Never worked
a single DC, LAB, NB or NWT, and only worked ND and NF on one band each.
Congratulations to Paul, WP3R, whom I met on the plane on the way back, on his
great score. He never heard me the whole contest, and I only heard him once
briefly on 20. We were about 60 miles apart. We drove up to see the
telescope on
the Wednesday before the test and drove right by WP3R. I have to work next
weekend, but hope to get on the air some from home to give out some QSOs to the
worthy...that's all of you.
73 and thanks to all who worked my peanut sized signal.
