Comments:
Well, I hadn't planned on making a major effort of this contest. I just thought
I'd give the new Force 12 C3E Antenna a bit of a run, then the rate looked good,
and I kept going.
I used a copy of last year's results as a motivator, crossing off the entries
from the bottom as I passed the various scores. That was quite a thrill, except
for the disappointment of not getting to cross off the last name on the list,
W1ZT. His effort of 428K proved too difficult for two reasons. First I had
really lousy conditions on 40 and 80, and just couldn't find maybe 4 more mults
- I figured either VE7, any of the 9 VK call district I didn't work, or some of
the JA call areas which I missed, but no luck.
I enjoyed it and hope you enjoyed it too. Highpoint was snagging VK4UC for a
double mult somewhere close to the end. The lowpoint - the number of times I'm
calling CQ, get worked by another station who then proceeds to call CQ or maybe
another station who's also calling me. The number of times that happened is
unreal. I kept wishing I had some special switch on the rig that would zap the
QRMing stations.
Look forward to seeing you in the wpx contest in a few weeks.
73, Dean - 8P6SH (8P2K for the upcoming wpx contest!!)
