Comments:

First time with brand new ORION. I like the TRX very much. First night I played
more with various settings of the TRX than with serious operation, so after
first night I had probably 300 QSOs less than I should have. Than I - as almost
always - selected wrong pauses... So during saturday afternoon I have seen that
the contest does not look too well so I tried to concentrate on working some
multipliers and was trying to avoid 20 meters during the day to improve my
average a bit - as you can see I still have most QSOs on 20.... I was S&P-ing a
lot - much more than usually, I had a feeling it gives me more final points than
calling CQ but did it ???
The "may" propagation is very peculiar and it is hard (for a dummie like
myselves) to predict how the bands will look like. For instance it was possible
to work some Ws on 20 any time ?!?!? But serious openings were very short - or I
have missed it. Very few JAs overall, the ones coming through were loud but the
crowds of the weak ones did not made it through. 160m was marginal, on 10m only
a few of SA and short skip, not very good from total centre of Eu. Since Eu was
going through all the time on most bands the JAM on the bands was HUGE. With my
2 x 4Y full size Yagis on 40m I was unable to settle below 7040 several times
!!!!
The big beverage system we had this winter was of course down - the fields
around our QTH are blooming with crops.... The big 3 el Delta loop on 80m @42 m
was also down so I had only 1 el delta loop with apex @ 25m and I had a feeling
it is not performing too good, how-ever during Rusian Contest I had a feeling it
works reasonably well, it was of course exactly the same.
