My first experience of CQ WW from this part of the world - operating from the
former ZM2K site in the SE of the North Island of NZ. Got off to a flying start
with 200 Qs on 10m in the first hour but things fizzled a bit after that.
Incredible blast of solar noise about 6 hours into the contest. Only able to
operate for 29 hours which was a disappointment because of the good conditions.
Found it fairly easy to crack pile-ups with my modest vertical antennas. Even
after only 29 hours I noticed the 'CQ WW SSB' effect - when you take off the
headset and speak, your voice sounds like it's had some 'phasing' added to it,
